Introduction
Military leadership is critical since the success of any organization is dependent
mainly on command leadership. Without skilled commanders, the Army will fail to meet the
demands of the current security environment. Like any other kind of leader, Army
commanders motivate others both within and outside the chain of command to put procedures
into effect, concentrate their minds, and make choices that benefit the organization as a
whole. For the sake of the organization, leaders must empower subordinates by enabling
them to apply their decisive thinking talents instead of relying on lists or seeking clear
guidance before executing any action. The three most important leadership skills are leads,
develops, and achieves. Even though all three competencies play a vital role in army
leadership, lead competence is critical. It guides soldiers towards a joint mission and goal
accomplishments since strategic leadership is about to cause and effect a grand scale, mainly
in an unpredictable surroundings.
Leads Competence
Inspiring Soldiers or Army civilians in the organizational unit is part of being a
leader. Defining goals, enforcing standards, and balancing the needs of followers and the
purpose are all part of this ability. According to Meerits & Kivipõld (2020), extending one's
influence outside the usual chain of command necessitates the capacity to work in a complex
setting with both higher and lower command structures. Connecting with local, national, and
international partners and government and non-government organizations run by civilians is
an essential aspect of this process (Flowers, 2018). Therefore, a leader is often required to
work without a clearly defined authority or when others do not accept their power in this
field.
