Human Rights issues and Recommendations are:
1. Low Wages to Colberian workers: Colberian workers are paid only $1/day while the ILO
defines that $2 as the minimum labor wage to be paid to any full time employee in an
organization irrespective of sex, cadre, education, caste, creed or religion.
Recommendation: Wages to be increased.
2. Poor Working Conditions: Colberian workers are forced to harvest plants by walking five
miles into and out of the jungle carrying baskets that, when full, weigh up to fifty pounds.
Recommendation: They should be provided with vehicle to reduce the walking distance
and carry the load.
3. Poor Living Conditions: Primitive huts to live.
Recommendation: Compounded societies to be built for the Colberian workers with
electricity, running water and proper sanitary conditions. Besides this the society should
have schools for their children and some recreation place like park.
4. Bias between Native workers and workers from USA: Employees from USA have all
specially designed amenities while the native workers are spared with none. This might
cause a drift between the natives and foreigners.
Recommendation: All employees should be treated same.
Assess PharmaCARE’s environmental initiative against the backdrop of its anti-
environmental lobbying efforts and Colberian activities. Support the position.
PharmaCARE successfully lobbied against the CERCLA by their recent initiative “We CARE
about YOUR world®”, which promises safe recycling and green ideals. This saved the company
from paying the superfund tax to the government. They argued on the terms that they will spend
money in the process of recycling so that no hazardous toxic is released in the environment. But
they did not follow any eco friendly measures at Colberia. PharmaCARE destroyed the habitat
