Introduction
Wells Fargo & Company is a multinational company with diversified investments. It is an
American company with its headquarters in San Francisco, California. It has various offices
across the United States. The company was established in the year 1853 by William Fargo and
Henry wells. The company was first known as the Wells, Fargo & Co. When it started it only
served the American west. When it was opened, its offers were banking, purchasing, and
retailing of bank paper drafts and gold. It began during the rush for gold in the San Francisco
port, and shortly after, it opened several offices in various cities. During this time, the bank
earned an excellent reputation for dealing responsibly and rapidly with customer's money (Wells
Fargo, n.d.). Through its overland stagecoach line, the company earned its everlasting fame for
delivering business at the fastest means possible.
Organization leaders
Due to a major fraud scandal that rocked the company, the company is currently headed
by C. Allen Parker as the interim CEO. However, as of October 21, the company CEO and
president will be Charles W. Scharf Before the role, Parker was the general counsel of the
company. He will be responsible for redefining the company's destiny after a recent fraud
scandal that saw its former CEO stepped down. The executive vice president and interim General
Counsel is headed by Douglass R. Edwards, who is responsible for the legal affairs of the
company. He is also a member of the operating company’s committee that is based in North
Carolina. Derek A. Flowers comes in as the head of strategic execution and operations office and
Wells Fargo Senior executive vice president. His responsibility within the company is achieving
excellence in its operations and driving its transformation (Wells Fargo, 2019).
