Background information of the higher learning film (2005)
It is a drama film which was written by John Singleton. It follows the life students in
Columbus university who are Malik Williams, Kristen Connor and Michael Rapaport, and many
others. They all have different personalities. The three students are starting their year at Columbus
University, and Kristen has a roommate Monet and Malik's roommate is Wayne. Monet and Malik
both attend parties hosted at the dorm hosted by Remy. Remy's roommate complains because of
the late loud music played. The introductory class for Malik and Kristen is political science, which
was taught by a professor Maurice Phipps. They were told to determine who they were and
categorize themselves. At the dorm, Remy complains and warns his roommate against playing
loud music because he disrupts his studying, but in this fudge mocks and threatens him. Eventually,
Remy decides to move in with a new roommate, a Jewish student David.
In some instances, Kristen experience instances of rape from frat boy Billy. Kristen joins
the Taryn student group, and they stay in harmony; they had a difference in races and cliques.
Malik confronts his professor about the low marks he got on his paper, but the professor shows
him various grammar errors and spelling. Kristen organizes a peace festival which its purpose was
to calm down the students. Malik and Deja attended this festival, and when they were in
presentation, Remy opened fire from the rooftop of a nearby room. In this incidence, two students
were killed, including Deja. Kristen was very guilty because she aimed to conduct a peace festival,
but Malik caused her guilt because of attempted murder (Higher Learning (2005).
