Considerations in a Nursing Organization Plan
As the director of the Intensive Care Unit of the new hospital, Joseph Yang must take
into account some considerations to assist him in planning the nursing organization of the new
hospital. Strategic planning will be important in guiding the activities of this new hospital. One
such consideration that Joseph Yang needs to take into account is the organizational level in the
hospital. It will be important to have a leader in each unit of the hospital. (Chulay & Burns,
2015) The leaders should be responsible for planning core hospital operations. For example, the
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will be the administrator of the hospital. He will ensure that daily
activities in the hospitals run smoothly and efficiently. His other roles will include directing and
organizing health services in accordance with the regulations by the government. The associate
CNO will deputize the CNO while Joseph will be responsible for overseeing operations in the
Intensive Care Unit. The directors will assist in daily operations and decision making.
The other consideration that Joseph will have to take into account is the nursing staffing
plans. It will be very important for him to be well informed on the staffing budget that will be
adequate for the staff that the hospital will hire. (Frusti et al., 2013) Since labor will consume the
majority of the hospital's financial resources, Joseph and his team will need to recruit nurses who
will take care of the affluent customers in a way that is cost-effective.
Joseph and the administrative team will need to make a prediction of the daily needs of
the nurses. The team will require the nurses hired to become productive while at the same time
flexing their levels to their actual volumes. (Burns et al., 2016) In the recruitment process, it will
