Introduction
The nursing sector has a significant role in managing most of the health issues that may
affect the community. The ability of the nursing team to evaluate the shortage problem makes it
possible to successfully overcome some of the significant health issues that the general
community may face. In most health organizations, the availability of resources makes it
possible for the health organization in question to successfully manage the health issues that the
general community may face. However, several challenges may make service delivery relatively
hard. One of the well-known problems that may lead to poor service delivery in the nursing
sector is nurse shortage. In this issue, the healthcare organization in question many experience
more patients as compared to the health specialists who are required to address the health
challenges that the community faces. The available nurses are forced to work more than they are
required to work as a result of the high number of patients.
Shortage of nurses as evident in the New York Methodist Hospital
NYMH mission is to provide competent and quality health care administrations to the
Brooklyn inhabitants and additionally its neighbourhoods as per human rights (The New York
Methodist Hospital, n.d). Among the main aims of NYMH incorporate creating health centre
offering administrations open to patients and doctors and besides playing a role in fulfilling
community needs. The healthcare has focused on its vision of giving quality health services to
the general population of Brooklyn and its neighbourhoods.
Nurse shortage is a significant issue that is faced in this organization. The high number of
patients served by this healthcare unit as well as a reduced number of practitioners working
under this organization is a significant challenge that makes it hard for the firm to function as the
