National Park Service (NPS) is an agency based in U.S sector of the interior which is
responsible for managing and maintaining various national parks, historical sites, monuments
and other designated properties owned by the federal government. The agency was set up in the
year 1916 through an act of the United States of America Congress that was marked into law by
U.S. President Woodrow Wilson(Bottkol, & Campbell, 2019). The idea of national park has been
credited to the artist by the name George Catlin. He traveled to the north of the Great Plains of
the US, where he got so concerned regarding the destruction of the wildlife, India civilization
and the wilderness.
By the mid twentieth century it was clear that an arrangement of national parks was being
made in the nation. Its establishment was initiated by the development of Yellowstone National
Park which became the first national park in the World. In 1916, the congress developed the
National Park system and the present 14 national parks and 21 national monuments were placed
under their control. On August 25
th
1916, Woodrow Wilson the president of US created the
National Park service. In the year 1933, the national park was reorganized by President Franklin
Roosevelt, acquiring more parks that were controlled by other agencies and establishing a single
national system of parklands.
The agency focuses on the protection of the ecological and historical integrity of the
national parks, historical sites and monuments. And to keep these specific places easily accessed
by the public. The National Park Service main mission is to ensure conservation of the scenery
and natural resources and ration the historic items and the wild animals therein and make sure
that they are left unimpaired for the future generations’ adventure and enjoyment.
According to Everhart, (2019) Budget problems is a major obstacle encountered by the
agency, the National PARK Service does not get enough amount of money which it need in
