DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IN RELATION TO THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE 2
Deviant behavior in relation to the theoretical perspective.
Deviant behavior refers to acts committed by some members of society against the
expected social norms (Zembroski, 2011). The social norms are the societal expectation of codes
of conduct. Deviant behavior is, therefore, an act that goes against the social teachings of
discipline and doing good things to the other people. Examples of deviant behavior in modern
society include rioting, crime and theft, corruption, rape, assault, murder among other social
behavior that is punishable by law (Spalek, 2016). One of the deviant behavior that I have
witnessed in my area of residence is crime. I have witnessed armed robbery in one of my
neighbor’s house in our residential estate. The criminals stole my neighbor’s property including
valuables like smartphones, laptops and money. The crime took place so fast and so mercilessly.

victims had not immediate help because their handsets were already taken away from them and
rendered helpless after being shot in their legs. The criminals also took away with the family car
worth thousands of dollars. Armed robbery is one of the worst acts of deviance. The latter is

because we lived next to the victimized neighbor, we first heard loud commanding voice as the
robbers gave instructions to the family members. We immediately realized that our neighbor
could have been attacked and rang to the other neighbors in the estate. We gathered around our
