PRINCIPLES OF INFLUENCE 2
The main two principles that could have played a significant role in helping locate their
friend Robe is Liking/ friendship and Social validation. Social validation includes instances
where a person is ready to help you once they see other people helping you have the same
feelings of helping as they have. In the video, once the people around noted that separate people
from the crowd were helping the Everywhere group find their lost friend, they were more than
willing to help them as they shared a unique character. Once you get a single person to help you,
others will also be more willing to help you; the agents needed only one person that could attract
the rest to help them. Considering the Linking/friendship principle, a friend would more likely
help their friend than a person whom they don't know; however, for people to be friends, they
have to like each other. Creating friendships among the people in the crowd will help them get
more friends hence increasing their chances of getting helped to find their friend Rob. It is
evident from the video that when the agents started communicating and socializing with the
crowd as they explain what they were up to, people developed a close relationship that they were
more willing to help them find Rob. With the above principles, it could have been easier to get
the crowd to help them locate Rob
Replies
In the first reply, I agree with the fact that social validation and Liking/ friendship could
play a more significant role in assisting the group in locating their friend. People get more
concerned to help once they see others helping you; people will be more available for you once
you create a close relationship with them. In comparison, assisting a stranger, it would be more
limited as to someone who you know.
