a. How should the trainees be organized? Think of this issue from a training design
perspective and from a training content perspective. Everyone in Domtar needs
extensive training because Royer change new strategic direction. Royer hire Kaizen as
an external help to trained the employees at Domtar. For a short period of time that he
had, I feel that Royer made a right decision by hiring Kaizen to help with his
company. If he would have more time and didnt need the external help, he could have
approach it differently. Considering the size of the employees who have large
differences in ability levels, he could have use programmed instruction and have high
level of trainer-trainee interaction
. b. For the type of training envisioned, what are the learning objectives? Write these
objectives in complete form. Royer could divide the training into different parts. The
first part would be the assessments of the knowledge and skills to test the employees
competencies. The second part of the training can be placing employees for technical
training. The last part of training would be customer services. The learning objectives
could be as follow: You should be able to assist the customers ever-changing needs
You should be able to perform assign task quick and effectively You should be able to
use the new technology
c. For each group of employees that will need training, what are the organizational
constraints that need to be addressed in the design of the training? What design
features should be used to address these constraints? Be sure to address both the
learning and transfer of training issues. If it is up to me, the organizational constraint
in this case would be that there are a lot of employees who have difference skill level
in the organization. The suggest method I would use is the programmed instruction
and have a high level of trainer-trainee interaction.
