Government archetypes exist in different types. This includes; IT monarchy, business
monarchy, IT duopoly, federal, anarchy, and feudal (Larson, 2006). The archetypes depend
on corporate structures and focus. Each IT governance also has different types of
mechanisms. The IT governance mechanisms that are most visible include the committees
that are responsible for organization and decision-making duties allocation as per the
indented archetypes. Each type of archetype is dependent on different structures. For
instance, the anarchy does not require a decision-making structure; federal and monarch
duopoly needs representation for decision making to take place while for feudal the decision
making is done locally. In most information system organizations, each division is allowed to
individualize their decision making to match with their costs, productivity and managerial
needs (Asemi, Safari & Asemi Zavareh, 2011). IS is not responsible for the vital business
functions such as selling, manufacturing, or accounting, and therefore it does not solely set or
control the business strategies. For IT governance to serve its purpose well, it should give a
structure that helps in the process of decision making.
Question 2
Cloud computing can be very beneficial to organizations and especially in increasing their
productivity, filling skill gaps, and cutting down the production costs. However, the issue of
cloud computing and its benefits varies when considering the big corporations and the
startups that are struggling with finances and looking to establish themselves on the market.
For the case of large corporations, cloud computing makes sense when the application
developments or software is not the main competency and whereby the organization aims at
ensuring higher capacity on demand as the needs increase. It is paramount for the inhouse
staff to be in a position to coordinate and manage the integration and the transition process to
the cloud technologies. For start up companies, cloud computing would make sense where
