Background of study
Anxiety, Fear, and Depression
Clinical depression is an issue significantly affecting the cancer patients, although it can
be treated using pharmacological and psychological treatment methods. The issues discussed in
the article are depression, fear, and anxiety. The face emotional challenges since their changes
begin to occur in their bodies, and adapting to such situations is painful. Their relatives try to
encourage them with wise words from the Bible. Nevertheless, they also experience emotional
problems. They are afraid of losing their loved ones. Social support plays a vital role since they
listen to the patients and offer help financially, (“American Cancer Society,” 2016, para.5).
Interacting with the cancer care team ensures that the patient is provided with answers to any
questions that they could be having. When an individual indicates signs such as actions related to
committing suicide, confusion, breathing problems, or inability to eat or sleep, help should be
sought from the healthcare providers. Patients with clinical depression may discontinue their
treatment plan. If cancer demonstrates significant weight loss, loss of energy, or suicidal intentions,
they need to get treatments that they can opt for medicines, counseling, or both.
The article also indicates dos and don’ts for the healthcare providers attending to cancer
patients. There are instances when the patients experience panic attacks, which are indicators of
anxiety. Symptoms of a panic attack are a racing heart, chest pain, breathing problems, and
dizziness. The article also provides Dos and Don’ts when handling cancer patients with panic
attacks. The purpose of this study was to inform cancer patients and healthcare providers on how
to treat depression, fear, and panic attacks. The research question was about how anxiety, fear, and
