The Big Short
Introduction
The 2015 movie titled The Big Short integrates three parallel stories that are separate to
come up with one film of approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. It is worth noting that the three
stories revolve around the mortgage housing crisis of the United States in 2005 (Gardner &
McKay, 2015). Besides, the movie’s casting includes Michael burry, Mark Baum, Jared Vennett,
Ben Rickert, and George Hale, among others (Gardner & McKay, 2015). Michael, who is an
eccentric hedge fund manager, realizes that market for housing is no longer stable. He oversees
the future of the market whereby it is likely to collapse and especially during the second quarter
of 2007. Therefore, he proposes the creation of a credit default swap, which gives him an
opportunity to bet against mortgage-backed security and be able to make a profit. Following
Jared Vennet, after learning about the analysis of Burry, he tries to verify the chances of it being
correct (Gardner & McKay, 2015). In the story of brownfield capital, two young investors
discover Vennet’s prospectors, which convinces them to make investment s in the swaps.
In the first part of this essay, which is analytical, the three parts of the movie titled The
Big Short are explored and how they are integrated. The parts which include; Michael Burry,
FrontPoint Partners, and Jared Vennett as the second while the third is Crownfield capital
(Gardner & McKay, 2015). All these parts are integrated to build an effect to the reader
concerning the housing market. The credit default swap proposed by Burry in the first part is
discovered by other characters in the second part and still used by the characters in the third part
who accidentally discover it from Vennett. Notably, the movie is based on a book with the same
title which belongs to the finance genre. All three parts of the film are effectively integrated and
