Anne of Green Gables
(1985- Drama/Costume drama)
The story is about a young orphan named Anne Shirley from the fictitious Nova Scotia town of
Bolingbroke, who is sent to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, two elderly unmarried
siblings. The story starts when Anne spends her childhood in infancy in strangers' homes and
orphanages. The siblings had planned to adopt a child from the orphanage to help Matthew
manage their farm in Green Gables, a fictitious hamlet in Avonlea. The orphanage instead
sends Anne Shirley due to a misconception. The story shows how Anne changed the lives of
the two older siblings because of her being a creative, adventurous, enthusiastic, and theatrical
young lady. Anne is a happy person who adapts well to her surroundings and thrives in the little
agricultural community. She gets animated while expressing her desires and dreams. Marilla
and Matthew choose to let her stay in the green gables because she is quickly brightened by
her creativity and chattiness. The character that I relate the most to is the main character of the
story, Anne Shirley. I believed we had the same character, I grew up being an independent
person, daydreamer, creative and talkative.
My imagination is my most precious asset, I see the world as one-of-a-kind. I'm always
wondering about my dreams and hopefully they're good enough for me. Because if we're going
to imagine or wonder, we might as well imagine something good. This film taught me that you
should never be frightened to speak out for yourself. Always defend ourselves and speak up for
what is right. To advocate for yourself, it is not always necessary to yell or be aggressive. There
are methods to tackle the topic calmly if you're concerned about coming across as disrespectful.
Keep in mind that this is your life, not anyone else’s. Your opinions and feelings are valuable, so
don't be afraid to voice them.
Anne Shirley is a cheerful person, particularly when it comes to expressing her aspirations and
dreams. She claimed that daydreaming makes our life more exciting. Anne was full of hope, had
a creative intellect, and a lively imagination that she developed via reading and thinking. Itis
necessary to allow my mind to wander from time to time in order to relax and accept a new
setting. Daydreaming also allows us to reflect on your day, cherish the small things, and plan for
the future. “Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me
feel glad to be alive. It's such an interesting world. It wouldn’t be half so interesting if we knew
all about everything, would it? There 'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?” - Anne
Shirley Additionally, Anne proves to the movies that our mistakes are a normal part of growing
up. We are not just your own responsibility. Whenever we make a mistake, remember that this
will not define yourself as a person. Let's not make hasty judgments about your worth or value.
“Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it.” - Anne Shirley
