Introduction
The healthcare industry is evolving, leading to the high demand for nurses with strong
leadership qualities, vast knowledge, and practice expertise in service delivery. However, the
healthcare sector is also experiencing extraordinary growth in knowledge diversity, technology,
and global health challenges. These provide nurses with golden opportunities and challenges to
enhance changes and evolve an advanced healthcare sector. As an individual with a master of
science in nursing, the program enhances leadership skills management skills and advances
evolution methods at various levels. However, the master of science in the nursing specialty of
interest is the clinical nurse, which provides services in pediatrics, geriatrics, emergency care,
caring for certain diseases, medical-surgical department, etc. (Boamah, 2018). Therefore, the essay
will address personal leadership style, which is transformational leadership, and the MSN track-
specific issues requiring changes that nurse leaders will advocate for in the MSN field.
A nurse leader will encourage, inspire, and motivate other healthcare workers in the
transformational leadership style. Ideally, leaders create a culture of innovation and change of
creativity, thus enhancing the development of healthcare organizations and achievements of the
success in the future goals of the organizations. A nurse using a transformational leadership style
will create an example at the executive position by instilling a strong culture, employee ownership,
and independence in the place of work. For instance, transformational leaders usually inspire and
motivate the workforce by providing the employees with the ability and capacity to decide on the
assigned jobs. This style will give other nurses under the leader more room for creativity and
reflection of the future to identify the solutions for the old problems. Thus, other nurses develop
leadership styles after receiving mentorship and training skills. From an understanding of the role
of MSN, transformational leadership is essential in the roles of an MSN. These roles include

making the policy governing the healthcare sectors, managing resources employees, and
performing other technical skills required in nursing. Through transformational leadership, the
nurse leader will work with junior nurses, thus, giving them power and authority to decision-
making strategies and clinical management of technical cases and leadership skills (Wang et al.,
2018).
A nurse leader will apply the following activities to explain the transformational leadership
style. Supervise employees, delegate duties to junior employees, and conduct coordination in all
the departments to ensure the proper allocation of resources for the smooth running of the
organization. A nurse leader will enhance the education and coach patients and junior nurses to
improve patient care services. They also ensure meaningful communication, provide patient-
centered care, and advocate for patients. These enhance the empowerment of the employees
through training on the advanced nursing practice, improve professional nursing practice,
monitoring and coaching, and enhance collaboration (Wang et al., 2018).
Many MSN track-specific issues require a change in healthcare. The MSN specialty usually
undergoes training in conducting technical skills in nursing and advanced management of complex
conditions. Their level of skills and knowledge can enable them to diagnose diseases and perform
minor patient surgeries. It is because they have a complete and clear understanding of drugs'
anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. However, some healthcare settings, especially in
community healthcare settings and less developed countries, sometimes face physician shortages
to perform these procedures. Therefore, there should be a policy advocating for the change of
scope of practice for the MSN. The rationale for initiating these policy changes includes the
following. There will be the improvement of high-quality healthcare services at each level of

healthcare, including the community level. The patient will not wait for services for a long time to
be seen by one person, thus increasing safety and quality.
In conclusion, a nurse leader can empower other nurses on high skills and advanced
technical nursing skills through the transformational leadership style. As an advocate for change,
an individual's ability to make correct clinical decisions will make nurses pursue change in the
scope of practice because of the competencies. Therefore, it will impact and facilitate my role as
an advocate through collaboration, monitoring, and coaching to the organization. For instance, it
impacts the community regarding quality health care services.
