different groups identified in this course. Talk to a children's librarian at a library for suggestons.

First there is the book, “Good Night Moon” by Margaret Wise Born which narrates of a room with various items such as
telephone, red balloon, little bears, kittens, a pair of mittens , a picture of a cow, mouse and an old lady. At nightfall, it’s the
time to say good night to the old lady,the kitten, the room and all that is in it.
The second book, “Anne Gables” by Lucy Maud Montgomery is about Anne Shirley who is adopted into the family of two
brothers Mathew and Marilla. Ann is imaginative, dramatic and talkative about her dreams. She is enrolled in Queen’s
Academy where she undertakes a teaching course and obtains a teaching licence in a year which is supposed to take two
years. Ann wins Avery Scholarship to study Bachelor of Arts having emerged the best student in English but gives it out to
stay with Marilla after Mathew dies.
The third book,”The Grufallo” by Julia Donaldson narrates of a mouse which is walking through the woods. Throughout
the adventure it meets an owl, a fox and a snake but uses clever tick of scaring the animals that it has a plan to dine with
grufallo, monster like hybrid half grizzly bear and half animal flees. Later on, the mouse meets the real grufallo with the
frightening features .The mouse evades from the grufallo by showing how he is the scariest animal. The mouse takes the
grufallo through the forest and when the previously scared animals saw the pair they run away thus convincing the gruffalo
that its tough.
The fourth book, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen tells of how five children and a dog travel to hunt a
bear. They find the bear in a cave, panic and run home . The bear follow them and they lock it outside their house and they
chant of how they aren’t going to hunt the bear again.
The fifth book, “Stuart Little” by E. B. White is about Stuart who is born normal but two inch higher looking like a mouse.
Stuart protects Margallo, a song bird, from Snowbell, their cat, which had sought refuge in their home during winter. Later
when Margallo learns of the plot to kill her by Snowbell, she disappears and Stuart embarks on a journey to look for her.
Rate each book using information given in class.
The books can be rated differenty based on whether they are recommendable from three star to five or not recommendable
for one and to star. Three star for book “Good Night Moon” as it was an average but satisfying to read, five star for “ Anne
of Green Gables” as it impacts on changing the view about how we should live, three star for “The Grufallo” since its
enjoyable to read, four star for “We’re going on a Bear Hunt” since its lovable to read and five star for “Stuart Little” since
it impacts on how we should relate with other creatures.
Discuss the lessons you learned from reading the novel and the implications for teaching and learning in a diverse

The novel, “Anne of Green Gables” has got various lessons to learn . First is being hardworking like Anne who managed to
complete a two year course to obtain a teaching licence in one year and wins Avery Scholarship to study Bachelor of Arts.
Secondly is the act of being caring as is seen when she opts to stay with Marilla after the deat of his brother Mathew.
Thirdly is being selfless, Anne gives out her scholarship to study Bachelor of Arts in order to stay with Marilla.
The implication for teaching and learning the novel, “Anne of Green Gables” in a diverse society is that the book helps both
the learner and the teacher change their perspective of how they should live and relate with others. Anne is from an
orphanage and manages to relate well with the two brothers, Mathew and Marilla. There is also need for appreciating others
irregardless of how they look. At first, Gilbert teases Anne about her red hair and pale which results in hatred. Later on
when Anne gives up her scholarship, Gilbert gives up at Avonlea school to work at White Sands instead where he would be
in reach of Anne. This forms the cement of their friendship.

To start with is that the ideas discussed in the novel, “Anne of Green Gables” relate to the problems in our present day
world where in most instances it occurs that people despise others due to the way they look which makes them different
from others. Secondly, it gives an illustration of how we should show concern to those whom we are living with especially
in their time of need.
The novel is recommendable as it has a great impact in changing the view of how people ought to relate, the act of
hospitality and being hardworking.
