There was a time when I came across a Hispanic in the course of delivering services
during my internship. The exposure of the internship itself made me interact with people from
various cultures that are different from that of mine. The parameters that could differentiate
between me and the Hispanic who came seeking medical care are disparities in regard to culture,
religious and spiritual practices.
On interacting with the client, I came to realize that the Hispanic was a Pagan, and this is
unlike me who is a Christian. The differences in religion, in this case, led to some challenges in
the course of my administration of treatment to the subject (Tseng, & Streltzer, 2008). For
instance, the client did not believe the fact that medicine can help in curing his prevailing
condition. All that he believed was that some supernatural power may serve a great deal in
healing the condition. This notion from the client made it difficult for me to convince him to take
medication.
The other challenge that I faced when dealing the Hispanic patient was the lack of
knowledge of disease causation on the victim. The patient did not possess basic understanding
over some profounding factors that may lead to diseases such as malaria. It actually reached a
point where the client asked me to prove that mosquitos are the ones that cause malaria. This
lack of awareness of disease causation can be attributed to the rigid religious beliefs among the
pagans, where the Hispanic patient belonged.
On the other hand, there were some cultural challenge that I also faced with the Hispanic.
For instance, the patient, as per his culture, was not supposed to take water in the morning. This
