Annotated Bibliography on Innovation
Innovation can be defined as something new depending on the industry and could be a
new idea, product, model, process, service, or a new way of selling. A leadership innovator is an
entrepreneur who takes advantage of the available opportunities and adds value, and keeps it
improving over time. Innovators can be sole owners of the business or employed people. An
innovation leader combines a conducive, fostering environment and different leadership styles to
encourage employees to add positive value that best serves the organization. A successful
innovation allows an individual to add value to a business, thus increasing profits.
Lopes Henriques, P., Curado, C., Mateus Jerónimo, H., & Martins, J. (2019). Facing the
dark side: How leadership destroys organizational innovation. Journal of technology
management & innovation, 14(1), 18-24. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-27242019000100018

behavioral innovation affect organizational performance. It was a review by the journal of
management. The research involved a sample of 210 employees from 80 organizations from
diverse areas to establish the impacts of leadership style on behavioral innovation enhance such
relationships. The research findings showed that destructive leadership style affects innovation in
the organization. It was also established that a caring climate contributes positively to
innovations. The authors were qualified to write the article because of the academic

organization should avoid employing destructive leaders and develop leadership programs to
educate leaders on the impact of their behavior on innovations. Although the article significantly
contributes to understanding the importance of leadership style on innovation, it also has some
limitations.
One of the limitations is that the researchers utilized cross-sectional data, limiting the
conclusion of the study. Restrictions to generalization also apply in the research because the
research used few companies in Portugal. Other variables may affect the outcome, including size,
geographic locations, family business, and international experience, among others. In conclusion,
the article will be important in the research because it highlights how destructive leadership
affects the organization's operation. The article is crucial because it is peer-reviewed and is up-
to-date.

Yi, L., Mao, H., & Wang, Z. (2019). How paradoxical leadership affects ambidextrous
innovation: The role of knowledge sharing. Social Behavior and Personality: an
international journal, 47(4), 1-15. DOI: https://doi.org/10.2224/sbp.7636
The article states how different types of leadership enhance innovation and the
importance of sharing knowledge to achieve innovation. The researchers conducted a study with
306 senior or intermediate experts from successful technology firms in China. The study showed
that the paradoxical leadership contributes to innovation. Also, knowledge sharing was found to
be critical in achieving innovation in the high performing companies. The researchers also found
that knowledge sharing is critical in moderating the impact of paradoxical leadership in
successful organizations. The researchers are qualified to author the article based on their
qualifications on their various fields of study.
Moreover, knowledge sharing was found to have major impact on innovation in high
performing companies. Also, the knowledge sharing was important and moderated the
innovations achieved within the organization; thus, when knowledge sharing was high, they were
both correlated. One of the limitations in the study is that the two variables were not measured;
cross-sectional data was used in the study which may lead to bias results.
In conclusion, the article will be critical in the study because it shows how leadership
style affects innovation and the importance of sharing knowledge to achieve innovation in the
organization. The article is reliable because it is up-to-date and is peer-reviewed. However,
future studies need to be done to focus on dual revolutionary issues of paradoxical leadership
innovations, mainly longitudinal design.
