Strategic Objectives: Strategic objectives are the aims for that an organization endeavors for. These
objectives are associated with the organization's vision and mission.
Long-term Objectives: These types of objectives are the ends that signify a position that an
organization wants to achieve in the near future. These types of objectives are less extensive and
observational.
Short-term Objectives: These types of objectives are the linear attempts in the way of attaining long
term objectives. These objectives are more observational and gentler.
The creation of these objectives defines the goals that the organization wants to achieve with the
help of strategies which leads the path and the means as to how the organization is going to achieve
these objectives. Therefore, strategic objectives are the goals or targets that are being established
for the purpose of motivating and directing organizational activities towards the achievement of
short-term and long-term objectives.
Goals and objectives work hand in hand in guiding the companies following the right direction in
accomplishing their targets. Organizations set clear objectives which are the broad goals in which
the specific objectives help in achieving them. Goals are the intentions of the organizations while
the objectives are more precise and exact statements which are necessary in attaining those
goals. Both are necessary as objectives are tangible while the goals are intangible. Concrete
objectives are also set in trying to achieve the abstract goals of the organization.
My response:
I like how you ended your response by saying "...both are necessary as objectives are
tangible while the goals are intangible". I find this to be very appropriate as goals are
indeed general aims or purposes - broad and long-ranged. Where as objectives are
precise statements focused on specific types of performances. Simply put, goals
express intended outcomes in general terms where as objectives express them in
specific terms.
