Introduction
Madeleine Leininger is the one who came up with the Leininger Culture Care Model.
During her career as a professional nurse, she noticed that the importance of cultural and care
knowledge when it comes to providing the best care. The goal of the theory is to offer congruent
nursing care.
Factors to consider in Mrs Franklin- Jones case
This theory is very applicable in Mrs Franklin-Jones case. As the patient is being
discharged, it will be crucial to come up with the cognitive-based assistive, facilitative, supportive
and decisions that are specifically tailored to fit the individual's cultural values, lifeways as well
as beliefs. Mrs Franklin-Jones has to consider the following factors that have been shared in the
story, ability and disability, occupation, interpersonal relationship, foods and meal preparation and
related lifestyles. The factors mentioned above are easily picked from the story. Mrs Franklin-
Jones suggests that she is very forgetful since she forgets to take her medication, and she is worried
because having bad pressure killed the mother.
Nurse Hernandez has to put this into consideration before discharging her. She has to put
in the likelihood that Mrs Franklin Jones is going to forget to retake her medication. To avoid
this, she should come up with measures which will help Mrs Franklin Jones not to forget. For
instance, she can have her set a reminder on her phone on all the times that she is going to be taking
her medication. It will also be crucial for nurse Hernandez to consider the ability and the disability
of the patient. This means paying attention to the things that she can do and not able to do. For
instance, she mentions her concerns about not being able to prepare different meals. The
