Question:
When purchasing a product on the Web, how important is the visibility of your supply chain for
this product? Why? Does the importance differ for different products?
Answer:
When purchasing a product through the Web, it is important to have visibility into the product's supply
chain. Because it allows shippers to improve customer service and cost control by managing inventory in
motion, providing proactive status updates, reducing disruptions, and mitigating risk. The ability of a
corporation or a consumer to track the delivery of products or parts bought online is referred to as
supply chain visibility. The advantage of making this information public is that it informs all business
stakeholders about when a product will be delivered or available for purchase.
Traditionally, supply chains have been built with a focus on logistics. Analyzing and responding to the
movement of items in and out of factories and warehouses has always been the key to improvement.
The growth of digital supply chain networks, on the other hand, has shifted the entire sector. Visibility
becomes more important as supply chains expand and become more complex. It has the potential to
reduce disruptions, eliminate late deliveries, and improve workflow.
Yes, the importance of various differs. Supply chain visibility lets a business determine when a product
will be refilled so that it may be promoted to its customers. If you know that a popular product is about
to be delivered, you can launch a timed advertising campaign to alert your customers. Customers want
to know when a product will arrive at their front door via ecommerce, and they will be unhappy if it
arrives later than planned. Most people will be suspicious of a product until it comes on their doorstep if
they have no idea when it will be delivered.
