research arguments, as they will guide the research process to ensure the addressing of all the
issues.
Information search strategy & techniques
The study used various search techniques and strategies to collect information regarding the
study topic. The study employed both quantitative and qualitative methods. Some of the tools
used in the collection of data include both primary and secondary sources, such as, peer reviewed
journals, textbooks, articles, media sources, and websites. In the evaluation of the search
strategy, the study considered factors like scope, authority, audience, format, and purpose of the
materials used. In the analysis and synthesis of the research findings, the study employed
grouping, induction, analysis, and statistic methods. The best tool in the collection of the study
information was peer-reviewed journals.
In order to determine the quality of the sources of information, we used a hierarchy of sources,
which has levels: anecdotes; media or news sources; white papers; professional associations; and
peer review sources or quality standards.
In conducting a literature review for the study, we read many published works relating to the
topic of research including dictionaries, websites, and encyclopedias. Then we provided
conceptual definitions of the major variables, and then indicated their significance to the area of
study. Then we provided descriptions based on the main topics of the study. This implies that our
literature review had various subheadings, all which established commonalities and trends of
previous researches. We also ensured to identify literature gap, as the basis of our study. To
reduce the large volumes of sources available, we selected the most relevant and recent materials
concerning the study topic.

We used online journals, textbooks, and articles in the study. First, journals were vital as they
provided evidence-based conclusions on the topic of study. Secondly, we used textbooks because
they contained extensive and relevant knowledge and facts about the topic under study. Third,
we used several articles, since they were rich in significant information to the study.
Critical evaluation of the current research
To examine the reliability of the sources, we established whether the sources used yielded
similar results on repeated measures, or tests. We used various measures including inter-rater
reliability, parallel-forms reliability, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency reliability. In
the determination of the relevance and quality of the sources, we considered factors like scope,
audience, format, purpose, and authority. Here, we ensured that the information used provided all
the required information for the study, and that it enough detail. We also ensured that it applied
to the definitions used in the study problem, as well as its accuracy. Some of the sources
identified, but not used include Wikipedia, about.com, and anecdotes. For instance, our
colleagues offered some negative impacts of ecommerce, but we could not ascertain their
validity.
Defending arguments presented
Ecommerce has positive effects on business, as it offers businesspersons with an opportunity to
reach large market places, world markets, to carry out business, and to reduce costs of
conducting their businesses, especially in the marketing, labor, and supply chain issues, and is
affordable. Nevertheless, ecommerce has negative effects on businesses, since they have serious
security and privacy issues, and lacks personal service. It also has too many players, fraud, and
sabotage. These results are influential as they have a strong relationship with the information in
the literature review. Some of the ecommerce technologies in the study include Electronic Data

Interchange (EDI), network application, and email, while the types of ecommerce include
business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) ecommerce. The claims about
ecommerce positive and negative effects are true as per the sources used in the study.
Conclusion
In conclusion, based on the findings of the study, it is clear that ecommerce have both positive
and negative effects in businesses today. Some of the ecommerce technologies that businesses
can use include Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), email, and network application and sites like
Twitter, Friendstar, and Facebook. Some of the benefits of ecommerce include effectiveness,
support devices, speediness, and designs. It also enables clients and business to conduct face-to-
face communication despite the distance between them. Therefore, the government should
implement ecommerce technology in different departments, as this will enhance its service
delivery like tax payment, and public sensitization on various projects. This will also promote
friendship between the government and its citizens.
