As I’ve watched the video lecture 5, Alibaba’s new retail concept is to linked buyers and
sellers of the goods. As technology advanced, more business functions moved online including
the established ones such as advertising, marketing, logistics, finance etc. And as our
ecosystem expanded they created this innovation where they able to help to create new types
of online business and some retail sectors along the way. In other words, Alibaba does what
Amazon, eBay, PayPal, Google, FedEx, wholesalers, and manufacturers. We all know that
when we shop outside sometimes it can be frustrating and disappointing because we might
encounter some troubles in buying the things we want to buy. Alibaba’s retail concept is
combining the best on both online and offline retailing. The company is best known for their
online market way and this online market way is the total combinations of e-commerce. E-
commerce is the buying and selling of goods, products, or services over the internet. It allows
the customers to choose the product or services from any supplier anywhere so Alibaba use this
strategy to be able to give their customers satisfaction easily. Some of their products and
services are boutique, supermarkets, wine shops, groceries, baby mart and more. The company
is known for the “new retail” because of the way they sell goods and services to their
consumers. Even the most traditional retail store was able to adopt this new retail concept that
Alibaba does to the new digital world in unexpected ways. Alibaba is designed for the scratched
grocery stores in the modern times. They can customize on the way the consumer wants to
shop their needs by just or scanning or using your mobile phones to find the best products for
you. You can be raw foods or cook foods depends on what customers wants. Alibaba has this
delivery line in some places in the city. In buying cars, alibaba re-design the experience by
bringing the traditional buying concept into the next level. They have this vending machine
where the consumers just need to browse in any places that they are in, and just select the one
they want to test drive in and out by experiencing the car first then talk to the sales person
without any sales pressure. Even the local convenient store had some makeover and has gone
the digital experiences. Consumers can use the apps to buy their needs easily. And after
watching the video I’ve figure out that Alibaba is not just an online e-commerce company, it is
what you get if you take all functions associated with the retail and coordinate them online into a
spread data driven to network of sellers, marketers, service providers, logistics companies and
manufacturers. Every transaction, every communication between seller and buyer, every
connection with other services is available in Alibaba, indeed every action taken in on their
platform is always affecting their business credits score. Second is the growth of Taobao, the
domestic retailing website of Alibaba’s Group. One of the first major software tools of taobao
was an instant message tool, through which buyers introduce products, negotiate prices, and so
on. The possibilities in the new retail are endless once you raise the line between online and
offline the way consumers actually want to shop your business will be successful. The key in the
traditional retail is the new retail and all together. New retail companies can go beyond

analyzing past sales to forecast demand to making accurate predictions about the future
changes in demand just like the Alibaba does. This enhanced perspective can be based on
many different factors. They used this new retail concept to enhance distribution, and ensure
that goods are moved so that they are available at the right place and time.
