Film Analysis: Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown is a new film of Tarantino that runs for 154 minutes was that was produced
and released in the US in 1997, December. It is also classified as a crime movie because the
actions in it gives a series of crimes. Tarantino Quentine is the film writer as well as director
Jackie Brownie, who is a middle-aged lady, (She is at the age of forties), the main actor of the
film faces a high conflict that can either profit or make her lose her life. This is because of her
act of smuggling money from the land of Mexico and taking it to Los Angeles through Ordell
Robbie, an arms dealer. Two agents that are; Mark Dragus and Ray Nicolet catches her with
cocaine and a total of $ 10 inside her purse. The two agents knew Jackie, but they had never met
the real arms dealer. She spent a night behind bars. However, these agents put her into a dilemma
when a proposal is given to her to assist them in arresting Ordell for her to be left free.
Meanwhile, the arms dealers request Max Cherry, a bail bond business owner, to free Jackie with
the motive of getting rid of her. Ordell wanted to eliminate any source of evidence that would
help in his investigation.
Jackie becomes suspicious of the intention of Ordell, to look for bond for her release and
hence, then secretly makes a plan with Max Cherry to steal $ 500 000 from Ordell. This game
being plan depicts theme of betrayal and deceit between Jackie and Ordell who had once been
friends who did things secretively. Jackie then starts a love relationship with Max. But the two
actors uniquely part their ways as it becomes challenging for Max to escape into the world of
crimes. Despite the age gap between them, they give each other a brief kiss. In the end, Jackie
manipulates Nicolette Ray to do the dirty job of gunning down Ordell. All she does to be the
smartest in all deals and she doesn’t want to become a victim of her illegal and unethical
(criminal) actions.
