The Giver 2014
In the introduction of the giver 11 years old jonas leaves in what seems to be a perfect
community there’s no crime, hunger, poverty, prejudice, or violence. Every citizen knows
exactly how to behave and what their responsibilities are but jonas feels apprehension about
the ceremony of 12 which he’ll be participating. In the rising action, Jonas lives with his
mother sister, lily, and father a nurturer who cares for babies or new children father’s has
brought home a new child name gabriel for extra nurturing concerned that if the child does
not develop more quickly he will be slated for release . Jonas isn’t sure what release is but he
knows that it involves leaving the community and going elsewhere. When the day of the
ceremony arrives jonas is selected by the council of elders to be the next receiver of memory
the most honoured title in the community. Jonas begins his training the next day the present
receiver is an old man who tells jonas call him the giver. He's been in the role for most his life
is job is to be the keepers of community's collective memory not only from recent years but
for generations the community gave up it's memories when it began it's question for
sameness a plan that involved creating a uniform geography climate and discouraging
individuality including skin color and color of all kinds sameness also involved eliminating
choice emotions and memories all of which could cause unhappiness and pain. Jonas
experiences seeing color for the first time and learns about love death was suffering and joy.
He grows increasingly in patients with his communities sameness an almost meaningless
existence marked by a total lack of choice. Jonas learns the tragic story of the givers daughter
who held the position before him and in the climax of the novel ,jonas learns that release step
and that little gabriel would be killed. In the following action jonah’s in the giver contact a
plan of escape from the community and jonas does taking gabriel with him, eventually jonas
finds a sled perched on the top of the hill as the left for him far beyond the community in the
resolution he and gabriel raced down the hill to where he hopes the people i waiting for him
with love and warmth elsewhere.

2. Discuss the ethical and moral issues you have seen in the movie.
Jonas started out as a nobility as a smart inquisitive boy who was curious about what he
noticed but really didn’t doubt the overall structure were rules of the society he ruled but
when he started practicing with the giver jonas knew everything sacrificed by the community.
The Giver is the most important to the elders in the community, the recipient of the memories
a position responsible for preserving the collective memories and a history of the world past
generations and for advising the council of elders when necessary to make of important
decisions beyond their experience, this burden of the preservation of memories became
somewhat bitter and offended by the giver of his duty. This is the ethical and moral I saw in
this movie.
The sled ride is a symbol of jonas journey toward freedom and understanding a symbol for
both escape from the vain life of the community and returned to a word of appreciation,
emotion, memory, individuality, choice, and love. As jona’s experience I have experienced this
event in my life, I made a way to get away and escape the complicated place where I was
experiencing depression, and my chaotic world so I looked for things that brought joy back to
me.
My life I liken to this movie, as I watch it I realize the things I have experienced. It has the
beginning of the story where I relive the beauty of the outside world to be able to play with
other children, to discover things and behaviors that I did not see inside the house, the climax
of the story of my life to be able to study , to have freedom and to get where I want to go in
life this is the part of life that haunts my mind the things I have done and learned since I
became aware of things. The ending of the story of my life, maybe this is what I can prove to
myself, not in the great desire for material things but the good teachings, manners, and
experience I have over a long period of time.
