AGILE VS WATERFALL 2
Project Management Methods
The success and failure of the project are to a certain extent by influenced by among
other factors the methods used in managing project execution. The Waterfall and the Agile are
the two main approaches to project management. However, each of these methods has its pros
and cons which makes it appropriate in certain projects over the other methods (Ilin, Lepekhin,
Levina, & Iliashenko, 2017). For instance, the later has become an increasingly popular method
in software development projects replacing traditional waterfall which is increasingly preferred
in managing construction projects. This paper is focused on comparing Agile and Waterfall
methods. It further assesses the pros and cons of each method as it relates to the development of
e-commerce website development. Consideration is made about the limited completion time of
three months and a diverse location of the project team to inform the most relevant model for
managing the e-commerce website project.
Comparison: Agile Vs. Waterfall
As a sequential life cycle model, the project team using the waterfall method follows a sequential
order in managing the project. Accordingly, the prior phase must be completed and tested before
moving to the next phase of the project. Agile is an incremental approach which allows
continuous iteration and concurrent testing of the project (Ilin, Lepekhin, Levina, & Iliashenko,
2017). The table below summarizes the key difference between waterfall and agile methods of
software project management.
