Reflection and Discussion Forum Week 2-IP
In chapters reading exercise, I noted several worthy lessons. One of the lessons I
understood was the project charter which describes a brief document that demonstrates the
project to it accomplish according to the project scope. Project stakeholders and teams are bound
together by the project charter where stakeholders act as an organization's management and
community involvement. Another important lesson is the strategic planning process where the
project manager is evaluating every aspect of the project to determine on optimization of the
project performance (Kloppenborg, 2014). Strategic planning helps a project manager to make
decisions that are aligned with the organization's objectives. As a project manager, a charter will
help provides a checkpoint for the future activities to execute hence providing direction and
enhance the chance for the management of the project. Strategic planning will me as a project
manager to formulate and implement the decision to cope with the dynamic project environment,
therefore, ensure project success by enhancing organization objectives and execute them within
the available resources and timeline.
The scoring method is an important tool for project management to help in the selection
and prioritize potential projects where there several projects for consideration. When purchasing
a new car there are multiple options for consideration (Kloppenborg, 2014). Identifying potential
criteria will help to showcase the suitable options for a car depending on the model and resources
need for the purchase. In the car purchase, the determining mandatory criteria give the needed
features that must be available in the car for the purchase hence have a direct effect on the car
project. Weighted scoring model criteria offer assigned weight to different conditions for the
least important to the key features for the car. 1 is the least with 3 being the best conditions
provided for the purchase.

In project charter project objectives, scope and schedule form the important elements for
the project. project objectives are important factors in setting goals that are specific measurable
and attainable for the project for efficient delivery (Kloppenborg, 2014). The scope is key in
planning the work needed for performance to make sure that goals and objectives are
accomplished which helps to form a project schedule where activities are assigned start and end
dates. The schedule provides milestones in the project which helps to demonstrate the timescale
to achieve different stages of the project.
In the vent the project sponsors require the project by two months before the schedule-
timeline as a project manager I will use the project schedule to determine millstones for the
project. Project delivery relates to the set organizational objectives that are specific measurable
and achievable hence enabling me as a project manager to do project crashing of the activities
within the available duration (Kloppenborg, 2014).
