Reflection on Chapter 5
In the chapter 5 reading exercise, several important lessons were worth noting. One of the
terms I picked was on stakeholder management. Stakeholders form an essential part of the
performing organization for the success of a project. The importance of stakeholder management
is crucial and needs attention to achieve the project objectives (Kloppenborg, 2014). Another
important concept was on the stakeholder's analysis, which is a document that contains the
identification, assessments, and classification of the project stakeholders. These terms are crucial
for me as a project manager. They will help develop plans and strategies on how I capitalize on
the stakeholders' support to increase the probability of the project's success. As a project manager
in the future, understanding stakeholder management will also help to mitigate the influence of
their resistance on the project to meet the project objectives and the set timelines for project
performance.
Projects' performance is essential to satisfy the needs and expectations of the stakeholders
involved in the project. Management of the stakeholders is crucial for their involvement and
participation in the project decisions and execution of those decisions (Kloppenborg, 2014). The
handling of the stakeholders will help manage their different needs and expectations for the
project's success. As a project manager, I have learned that mapping the stakeholders will help
me understand various stakeholders involved in the project, how to handle them according to
their power to influence the project, and how they want to be involved in the project execution.
The stakeholders who are influential to the project success will handle them as partners in the
decision-making process to guarantee their support in project performance. A stakeholder
management plan forms a vital strategy to formulate the necessary critical points for project
success, such as scheduling regular meetings and providing a specific progress report.

Stakeholder register is another important term that I learned that helps project managers
develop a strong working relationship. The stakeholder register provides the project manager
with key insights to establish relations with each of the project stakeholders. It helps to
understand stakeholders' requirements, which is vital to the project manager in the development
of the project scope for the team performing the projects (Kloppenborg, 2014). As a project
manager having stakeholders register will provide me with crucial information for the project
team to meet the stakeholders' objectives as the requirements may change with time. The
stakeholder register presents a living document to me as a project manager. It will be an
unending process for the project life cycle and after the project to cultivate the relationship to
help me secure even more projects in the future. As a project manager, I will be able to deal with
the new stakeholder in the register added due to change in the economic and political
environment to understand the changes and how to ensure the projects are within the schedule
and the project teams can perform they allocate tasks.
Project sponsors and managers will help create a productive workplace for the team
members and ensure that they understand project objectives (Kloppenborg, 2014). The project
sponsor will agree on the project schedule's project milestones with the project manager as a
checkpoint for progress achieved. As project manager having a joint establishment of the project
schedule with the project sponsor will help throughout the project life cycle in making
appropriate decisions and problem-solving. A project manager in the future with project
milestones will help the project sponsor and team maintain their commitment to successful
project completion.
