DB FORUM 4 REPLY TO ROLANDA WATSON
Hello Rolanda,
I greatly enjoyed getting the chance to read your discussion board post, and thought that
you made some very well thought out points in regard to outsourcing and the many ways it can
affect an organization. More specifically, I thought that your comparison of articles provided an
all-encompassing look into the reasons an organization would choose to outsource and the
implications that may come with that decision. Mykhaylenko, Motika, Waehrens, and Slepniov
have defined outsourcing as being a practice in which firms “disaggregate fine pieces of
activities from their value chains and relocate them across national borders in the pursuit of cost
savings, higher performance or learning opportunities” (2015). To support the various examples
of the outsourcing process you provided, research has shown that organizations will engage in
the concept of knowledge offshoring and outsourcing along with outsourcing resources and
procedures (Tarn, 2015). The combination of these research sources along with the multitude of
information you provided in your discussion board can collectively serve to show just how
prevalent the practice of outsourcing is within a variety of industries, and also detail the positive
results an organization can obtain by incorporating outsourcing and offshoring into the
operations system.
