Be sure you answer Part One, Part Two, Part Three, and the Reference page of this assignment
before submitting.
Part One: Human Nature in Genesis 1-3
Use and cite at least two of the following topic study materials: textbook Chapter 4, Topic 3
Overview, "The Mystery of Original Sin" article, and Bible passages. Cite all of the resources
used with in-text citations. These should be included on a reference page at the end of this
document.
Based on at least two of the listed topic study materials, type your answer to the following
questions in the box beneath each question.
1. What is revealed about human nature (from Genesis 1-2)? Cite and reference the textbook.
Your answer in 100-150 words:
Humans were created in the image of God. He wished for humanity to be compassionate,
trustworthy, and obedient to regulations when they were provided. They were made to be
able to perceive and utilize what God has created. God's fundamental need for humanity
was obedience. The third chapter of Genesis reflects on disobedience and how sin entered
the world. Satan, disguised as a snake, persuaded Eve to eat from the forbidden tree.
Initially, God had promised Adam and Eve that all their needs would be catered for as long
as they didn't eat from the tree in the middle of the garden. On the other hand, Satan
convinced Eve that God had lied to her and that she and Adam would become gods by
eating the fruit of the tree. They will have moral awareness. Eve tasted the fruit and gave it
to Adam. This led to the fall of humanity. As a result, death was introduced into the world
for the first time.
2. What are the consequences of the fall for human nature (from Genesis 3)?
Your answer in 100-150 words:
Before the fall of humanity, all creatures were immortal. For instance, The Roman
Catholic Church took this act to mean that the sin committed by the first parents has been
experienced throughout human history (Zachhuber, 2014). For the first time, human nature
was at odds with God. This also highlights the human tendency to blame others for one's

wrongdoings, as Eve did when she blamed the serpent for her wrongdoing. Sin's
ramifications come in a variety of forms. Therefore, it could be defined as the rising of
humanity rather than the fall, as previously stated. It demonstrates that Adam and Eve
lacked moral awareness. This is a clear demonstration of the man's desire to invent
something new. Also, human nature differs from the nature of animals and other species in
that people can reason and feel. According to the Bible, God made human beings in his
image. As a result, human beings love because they were created in God's image, who is
love (1John 4:16). Nature should reflect kindness, compassion, faithfulness, and patience.
3. What is revealed about human purpose? What does it mean for humans to flourish, in other
words, to achieve spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being? Cite and reference "The
Mystery of Original Sin" article.
Your answer in 100-150 words:
Human being’s curiosity led to sin and that man's purpose shifted. Human beings should
show compassion, kindness, and other moral to achieve spiritual, emotional, and mental
well-being. The human beings’ mission in this world entails being kind to others and
caring for the environment so that future generations can prosper in God's eyes. God
commanded human beings to “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the land and tame it, and have
authority over the sea creatures, the birds of the skies, and all living things that move on
the earth” (Gen 1:26). However, Adam and Eve's connection with God was damaged once
they sinned against him. However, God started a plan to bring human beings back to His
ways. Therefore, humans who attain spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being are in
touch with their Creator, at peace with the world, and free of burdens and suffering
(Diffey, 2020). Those who are not connected to God have lost sight of their true purpose.
4. How would pantheism or atheism (choose one) view human nature, human purpose, and
human flourishing?
Your answer in 100-150 words:
According to an atheist, human nature involves being good to others and treating the world
with the love and respect it deserves, but they do not seek guidance or pray to God.
Because they do not believe in God, atheists are unconcerned about God's judgment or
punished for their conduct. They also think that human beings have suffered from the
beginning because they don't believe in Adam and Eve's transgression against God
(Zachhuber, 2014). However, Shuster states that “However, something within us has been
corrupt from the start, and we do not love what is good with all of our hearts but are
passionately attracted to evil” (Shuster, 2013). They refuse to believe in God, and instead,
they believe in evolution and science.
5. The question, "How can an all-powerful, all knowing, and all good God allow suffering?" is
called the problem of evil and suffering. Briefly summarize the Christian worldview's
response to the problem of evil and suffering. Cite and reference the topic overview and/or
the textbook.

Your answer in 100-150 words:
Christians believe in the Almighty God and that he has placed them on this earth to care
for it and love one another. He felt duped when Adam and Eve decided to go against his
will and eat from the forbidden tree. After eating the fruit, Adam blamed Eve, who in
return blamed the serpent. Since then, sin has been a part of existence. Besides, the
textbook's Chapter 4 discusses the damaged relationship with God and how he had to expel
humanity from the Garden of Eden due to their wickedness (Diffey, 2020). Today, humans
suffer daily because of their disobedience.
Part Two: Consequence of the Fall Today
Select a Christian organization from the "Christian Organizations That Address a Consequence
of the Fall" list provided in the topic study materials.
Based upon your selection, research the issue that organization addresses. Use and cite at least
two academic resources from the GCU Library. Cite all of the resources used with in-text
citations. These resources should also be included on a reference page at the end of this
document.
1. Based on your research, address the following: highlight how the consequences of the fall are
evident in the issue(s) that the organization addresses; include statistics, causes, and impact
on people (victim, perpetrator, others as appropriate).
Your answer in 75-100 words:
Mercy Ships is one of the organizations that provide medical help to poor people
worldwide. Since the fall of humanity, people in everyday and these sins establish a seed
of continuous depravity. Birth abnormalities and other bodily problems directly result from
evil against God, yet they are not always the fault of our age. According to Alford (2007),
around 3% of children are born with congenital abnormalities which include cleft lips,
brain defects, heart and lung complications, etc. Therefore, Mercy Ships help to restore the
health of these children (Mcllwraith, 2019).
2. Describe how this issue creates dehumanization and diminishes human dignity. Include
statistics, causes, and impact on people (victim, perpetrator, others as appropriate).
Your answer in 75-100 words:
These issues degrade human dignity because children who inherit their parents' sin as a
congenital disability face a future of misery which should not be the case. Therefore,
Mercy Ships, the objective is to provide competent surgeons and free medical care to the
sick just like Christ (Mcllwraith, 2019). Hence, Mercy Ships carry out God's purpose by
treating all patients indiscriminately, including non- Christians, so that they can lead an
everyday life.

Part Three: Analysis of a Christian Organization's Solution
Use and cite the organization's website, in addition to the topic study materials. Cite all of the
resources used with in-text citations. These should also be included on a reference page at the
end of this document.
Write how the Christian worldview ministry that you selected is combatting the consequence of
the fall.
1. What organizational statement reveals that this organization is operating from a Christian
worldview?
Your answer in 250-300 words:
The Mercy ships' mission is to "provide hope and healing to the forgotten needy" (Mercy
Ships). Besides, the organization's basic principles are based on Jesus' 2000 model: "to
love God, to love and serve others, to be persons of integrity, and to strive for excellence in
everything we say and do" (Mercy Ships). According to the Christian worldview, God is
powerful, and He influences human beings to care for one another and the planet we live
on. Doctors and nurses give back to the community and the globe by volunteering their
time to save lives. Even though it's hard to take care of a stranger, Christians understand
that God loves all beings and would want them to love each other as well (Webmaster,
2019). Despite having a Christian worldview, Mercy Ships have extended their love to
everyone, including non-believers.
According to the Christian viewpoint, Jesus is the solution to every problem or human
difficulty. It is because Christians believe in Jesus because he died on the cross for the sake
of men and because the manner, He did so is a way of freeing everyone from their sin. God
leads the right people to go and work in the Mercy Ships for outreach (Alford 2007).
Therefore, Mercy Ships have changed the lives of many people all over the world. Patients
can live healthier, happier lives, and volunteers are proud to have aided them. According to
Mcllwraith (2019), the Mercy Ships Volunteers undertake between 5,000 and 6,000
surgical treatments when they dock
2. Explain how the organization uses a God-centered worldview (as defined in the "The
Mystery of Original Sin" article) to address dehumanization and restore human dignity.
Your answer in 250-300 words:
The article "The Mystery of Original Sin." States that God is at the center of people’s lives.
God's goal in redemptive history is to produce a people from every tribe and nation who
will live in his presence, honoring him and enjoying him eternally. He will be their God
and will be with them. Every tear from their eyes will be wiped away by him. Shuster

(2013) argues that “If God were only an exterior barrier, we'd be left with an interior
boundlessness, an emptiness at the core of thingsleft, that is, without any fundamental
organizing center for our lives.” Therefore, Mercy Ships render their help to everyone,
regardless of religion, because God desires to love and care for all his children. This is per
the Bible that “Similarly, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good
works and give praise to your heavenly Father” (Matthews 5:16). This means that God
keeps watching everyone and provides human beings with indications to let them know
they are on the right track.
While assisting everyone who comes their way, Mercy Ships addresses dehumanization
and restores human dignity (Webmaster, 2019). By opting to conduct surgery on the
underprivileged, the volunteer staff depicts selflessness to focus entirely on the patient.
They give all their love and support to others, which in turn restores humanity's hope and
faith. This has been their calling for years. The ship is a first-world hospital functioning in
a third-world setting, assisting in advancing best practices when unavailable
(McCollwraith, 2019). Since their inception, the Mercy Ships have helped millions of poor
patients, and they will continue to do good.
