1. Sephora is known for quality beauty products and for creating a brand that appeals primarily to
millenials. They have accomplished this in a variety of ways. Designing stores that are interactive do
make the experience more experiential and this results in providing each customer the best means
possible to express who they are. That is the most important quality for the consumer who needs the
right brands, shades and tones that convey who they are. The success that Sephora has regarding
branding puts them ahead of the competition. Few like them have the services, classes and events to
make the Sephora experience complete. What better way to express yourself than by taking a class on
how to choose the products that are right for you. You can attend a party to launch a new product and
schedule a makeover in their stores. Learning from their skilled staff helps each individual create their
own style to express themselves in their own unique way. Their insider community is a great way to
exchange ideas and get current information about new products. Their social shopping platform gives
beauty enthusiasts a way to learn from other easily and quickly. (Hoff, 2014) They seem to have a
winning formula and they always look for ways to improve. That’s why I think that, more than
anything else, they give people a way to express themselves in a unique way. This also helps them
emotionally, because they will be more confident in who they are.
2. Sephora provides social benefits because of the many opportunities to exchange ideas through
forums on their website and at their various events scheduled throughout the year. Many think that the
brand needs to expand beyond millenials and Sephora can take steps to make sure that happens. The
Beauty Business Magazine article makes it clear that the store is focused on the next-generation
experience, but there is much they can do to appeal to non- millenials. (Beauty Business Magazine,
2015). The first objective is to have a plan in place to reach out beyond the current focus and expand to
attract older customers and thereby increase the customer base. The best way to start is to begin an
advertising campaign about Sephora’s specialty beauty products for the non-millennial. The idea can be
