Affordable Care Act. The bill continues to push for a reduction in the cost of care while
emphasizing on the quality of care. One of the ways through which the American healthcare
system is going to achieve these goals is through the managed care system that organizes
healthcare providers to meet the dual goals of maintaining the quality of care and controlling the
costs of healthcare. Although Medicaid plays a crucial role in the evolution of managed care,
other private health insurance agencies drive the healthcare industry. Apex Healthcare of MS,
Inc is one of the state Medicaid managed care programs in the United States. The organization,
which is located in Illinois, offers a variety of services, including curative and preventive care to
patients. The organization also has an MRI center, which helps to diagnose different conditions.
The paper seeks to analyze the organization’s Open MRI health plan to determine whether it
complies with the HEDIS performance measures.
Apex Healthcare of MS, Inc. uses the open MRI system, which is suitable for all their
patients. The system is less quiet compared to the closed MRI, which makes it ideal for children.
The open MRI system is not enclosed, and it is moveable, therefore making it possible for the
technician to tilt them so that the patient does not have to move during the procedure (Hynynen,
2010). He tilting feature also enables the patient to remain in a standing position other than
having to lie flat during the process. Another advantage of the open MRI system is that it does
not cause anxiety as the closed system does since it fully encloses an individual’s body. The
