Scope planning and Scope creeping
In project management, scope planning is a process by which the project manager and
his\her team members is able to define the project deliverables and the respective boundaries.
Like any key process in project management, there are some key step which are required in order
to come up with a concrete project scope, this includes; initiation where the project deliverables
are inputted together with strategic planning, program selection and even historical information.
After the scope initiation there is planning and eventually definition of the project scope. Still on
project management, Scope creeping is used to denote the uncontrolled, continuous change in
the growth of the previously set project scope. Simply this is a situation where the initially set
project scope, deliverables and even requirements expands to situation where it could undermine
/or even undermine the project. Project scope creeping can be caused by the team member who
fail to understand about the project scope among other factors, (Moustafaev, 2014).
Managing Project Scope Correctly
Some of the ways by which you can avoid problems in project management and manage the
project scope correctly is by;
1. Document every step including the project requirements, this will act as a guideline
during the project implementation and thus avoiding problems.
2. Make sure that there is a concrete change control process in place in order to avoid scope
creeping
3. Create a clear project schedule and also make sure to verify the project scope from the
stakeholders.
