Option #1: PROJECT MANAGEMENT SIMULATION 2
Option #1: Project Management Simulation
Scenario D
Introduction
As a Senior Project Manager at Delphi Printers & Peripherals, my role in the project
simulation is to release a new printer that will increase the competitive edge of the company
in the market. The management’s target scope is to have a Multifunction printer that will
allow the company to leapfrog the new product announcement for the competitor, thus
ensuring that Delphi Printers & Peripherals becomes the market leader. The target schedule
for the project is Week 12 while the Target cost is $40,000. Nonetheless, after completing
Scenario D, I met the project Scope goal, scoring 125/125. Further, I scored 294/300 for the
project schedule, thus not fully meeting the goal since the product was completed in week 13
rather than week 12. On the project resources, I scored 163/200 by finishing the project at a
total cost of $51,300, which was above the management’s target. The overall scored was
671/1000 (refer to the Appendix). The purpose of this paper is to describe Scenario D
completed, and document the lessons learned.
Lessons Learned
Encountering problems is not unusual
Problems inevitably come up during any project. There is no project that can be free
from any challenges, ranging from team morale problems, going overbudget, and being
behind the schedule. However, it is important to address the snags when they occur and
ensure that the project objectives are met.
