REFLECTION SUMMARY 2
Reflection Summary: Access Control
In the past eight weeks, I have learned a lot of things about access control. The course has
enhanced my understanding of access control. First of all, I have learned the correct definition of
access control a security practice that regulates what or who can use or view resources in a
computing, and IT environment (Sandhu et al., 20180). I have discovered that the security practice
is a fundamental strategy for minimizes cyber-attacks like data breaches in business or
organizations. The course has been effective in teaching types of access control, such as physical
and logical. In this regard, I have learned that physical access control regulates access to buildings,
rooms, campuses, and physical security concerns, while logical access regulates connections to a
computer system, data, and networks.
I feel that the course was well-organized since the tutor took us through the steps of
implementing access control. After understanding the definition and types of access control, I
learned various practices for ensuring access control. In this sense, I believe that electronic access
control systems that depend on user credentials, and auditing and reports to track members of an
organization, like employees, to restricted business locations, are efficient enhancing physical
access control (Sandhu et al., 20180). The course was effective in enhancing my knowledge of
access control strategies, such as encryption, authentication, and authorization. In this regard, I
have practical skills and knowledge for creating passwords and PINs to ensure the security of a
computer system.
The most helpful thing that the instructor did to enhance the understanding of access control
is guiding use through practical assignments, which helped me gain knowledge and skills for
encryption. In this sense, I suggest that the instructor should continue giving more practical
assignments to enhance learning.
