Identification and Application of 5 steps of TPS
Training for performance system (TPS) entails the steps of developing expertise in
personnel aimed at enhancing an organization, its processes as well as the performance of
individual workers. The TPS model has five steps that include analyzing, designing, developing,
implementation and evaluation or assessment. analysis entails knowing the performance needs of
an organization to be enhanced by training and identification of the experts needed to work
effectively in a work setting. The essence of the TPS is its link to important performance goals
and getting answers to questions about how an entity can better its performance (Swanson &
Holton III, 2001). For instance, how can it enhance the communication skills of its employees?
Designing entails creating and or acquisition of general as well as specific approaches for
employees to attain expertise required in the workplace. The design phase can be a lesson or
program levels. At the program level, the design needs to be systematic, economical and
psychologically appropriate for its targeted employees. The development stage consists of
creating as well as acquiring both participants and training materials needed to implement the
design stage aspects. For instance, instructors should have training materials like if it’s about
Excel, they should have the program’s basics.
Implementation is about managing the training programs and delivering them to
participants. The delivery strategies must be effective and planned to ensure that all participants
get their required expertise. It also entails knowing delivery challenges like difficult learners and
fear among participants as well as generating effective solutions (Swanson & Holton III, 2001).
Evaluation entails the need to determine and make a report on the effectiveness of the training
and development sessions concerning enhanced performance, perception as well as learning
