There are a number of reasons due to which employee’s motivation wanes. The first
reason the way the manager treats the employees when they make a mistake. In such a case when
a mistake is made by the employees, if the manager scolds them, disrespect them in front of
others and even cut their salary, the motivation of employees will definitely wane in such a case.
Secondly, lack of feedback from the manager is another reason that employee’s
motivation wanes. When an employee provide extraordinary work but lack of feedback or
appreciation from manager discourages the employee. Managers must understand that their
feedback are very important for the employees.
Finally, employee disempowerment is a major factor. When employees observe that they
do not have the power to say something regarding the way things are done within the
organization, they feel discouraged. Employee empowerment within the organization is very
important for encouraging the employees.
It is asserted by the goal-setting theory that goals are what people significantly want to
attain or achieve. There are 4 distinct means that the employee’s behavior will be affected by
behavior; they direct attention and actions to the behaviors that employees might think will assist
in achieving their goals, they work in individual's effort mobilization for trying harder, the
persistence of a person will increase which then leads to more of an effort being utilized on the
actual conducts that are requires for attaining one's goal, and finally, they will assist in
