Community Teaching Plan Name Institution Affiliation DEFINITION AND EPIDEMIOLOGY ➢ Obesity is characterized as an excess weight gain chronic disorder. ➢ Obesity is an emerging public health concern in the USA, particular in the State of Arizona. ➢ Childhood obesity rates are estimated to be 18.3 percent in the US. ➢ Obesity raises risk factors for other chronic disorders, including cardiovascular illness, hypertension, diabetes, to name just a few. ➢ Childhood obesity has improved overall healthcare in the USA. ➢ CDC reports that the risk of obesity is high in the US for children 2 to 19 years old (CDC, 2018). ➢ The incidence of obesity in Arizona alone is 30.6 per cent, with the majority being low-income kids. This population is at risk of obesity due to low physical activity and the intake of carbohydrate foods. CAUSES, SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS, AND RISK FACTORS Causes ➢ Consumption of unhealthy foods is excessive. ➢ Sedentary ways of life. ➢ ➢ Inadequate sleep. Genetic determinants Signs and symptoms ➢ Breathlessness. Risk Factors  Two major obesity risk factors exist. 1. Nutrition— low consumption f o fruits and vegetables, foods with high-fat content are considered to contribute to obesity. ➢ Sweating vigorously. ➢ Incapacity to deal with spontaneous physical activity. 2.
