DOCUMENTATION OF A CARDIOVASCULAR 2
A. Biography Data
My documentation of a cardiovascular system examination aims at studying jugular vein
distention (JVD). According to Maradit et al. (2018), JVD occurs when the blood pressure inside
the vena goes higher than the normal one and appears as a bulge running down the right side of
an individual’s neck.
Examination
The examination involved physical observations, whereby I observed the neck of the
patient to tell whether it was bulging or healthy. Maradit et al. (2018) argue that a person with
JVD may have a bulging neck vein. I also performed palpation experiments by placing my hand
on the patient’s chest. The palm of my hand covered the areas of the heart so that I could feel for
the point of maximum impulse. Finally, I conducted auscultation examinations to identify heart
sounds, and sound different at various points in the cardiac cycle, such as the right and left sides
of the neck.
Justification
The patient had a cardiovascular disorder since their blood volume was higher than
normal. (site) says that JVD may cause severe vascular and heart conditions. In this sense, the
patient had JVD since their neck veins were bulging and had increased heart rates.
B. Medication and Allergies
Cardiovascular diseases like JVD leads to chronic conditions in the body (Cerqueira et
al., 2017). Therefore, the patient might be required by the doctor to take particular medication for
the rest of their lives. There are various types and combinations of medicines that are used to
treat JVD. Doctors and healthcare providers decide the best treatment combination according to
the patients’ situation. According to Cerqueira et al. (2017), commonly prescribed medicines for
