Bernhard Schroeder, in his book, observes that innovation and creativity are critical
determinants of competitiveness of business organizations in the current market. Multinational
corporations like Google and IBM have dominated the global technology market because of
upholding innovation and creativity. Creativity and innovation have enabled business
organizations to increase the quality of their goods and services to increase consumer
satisfaction. Business organizations using this strategy have effectively created huge customer
bases hence allowing them to earn higher revenues than their competitors. Competitiveness is
also experienced in the job market, considering that individuals are hired based on the level of
their creativity and innovation. Business organization focus on nurturing innovation and
creativity in their workplaces to address complex problems of the highly dynamic globalized
market effectively
In his first important point, Schroeder observes that people and organizations differ in
terms of the level of innovation and creativity. The difference is associated with the expandable
nature of these skills. He notes that although people are naturally creative, learning can boost
their creativity skills. The level of creativity in individuals, therefore, depends on the amount of
effort employed in its development. Schroeder thus refutes some arguments in the society that
correlate the level of creativity and innovation in individuals with genetic factors. He cites a
claim that some individuals are born creative while others are born with no creativity. Schroeder
observes that creativity and innovation in human beings are inspired by imagination and
curiosity. He observes that imagination and curiosity enable people to solve existing problems
and improve the quality of existing ideas. However, he observes that people have free will to
