REFLECTION PAPER 2
Reflection paper
The approach that I use in therapy with my clients is being more empathetic to them. I
took a biopsychosocial assessment (intake) with 15 years old Hispanic. The little was admitted to
the partial program (PHP). She was hospitalized last year (inpatient) exactly on February-March
2019. She came back because she saw the man who hurt her again while she was working in the
bakery. The girl is traumatized, and I had to sit close to her. However, I was not aware that

first, she shied and refused to talk for sometimes. It took me two hours to make her feel free and
speak to me about her feeling. She never believed that I would consider her story. Therefore, I
assured her of full understanding. She was more reluctant to talk on specific issues, and I had to
change the subject. I then asked about something else which is related to her experience then
returned to the main topic.

I must admit that working with the client has helped me learn to control my emotions. At
first, I would easily give up on clients that refused to talk; however, by working with the young
