good conductors. The charge polarities are influenced by the polarity of the charge at the centre of the setup.
This follows the law of charges that like charges repel while unlike charges attract.
The two oppositely charged metal surfaces don’t neutralise because they induced on opposite surface sides of
the metallic cylinders. The net charge in the cylinder is zero because the induced charges are equal and opposite.
Their separation is due to their interaction with the charge in the centre of the overall cylinder
