1. What are contemporary standards of practice that support the training of mental
health professionals in research methods? Give examples of responsible ways to
incorporate research into clinical practice. Be sure to include references to justify

In the past, mental health professionals have found themselves in a pickle after failing to
abide by the various contemporary standards of practice in research. Therefore, when training
mental health professionals in research, it is crucial to consider various contemporary standards
since they support the overall training process. Some of the resources which stipulate such
contemporary standards include the AFCPE, ACA and AMHCA codes of ethics. Such
contemporary standards of practice relating to research include the confidentiality of
information. Therefore, a mental health professional is supposed to implement procedures that
protect confidentiality (Chiumento et al., 2017). Another standard of practice is that mental
health professionals should also take precautions to avoid injury or harm to the participants since
they are responsible for the participant's welfare while conducting research (Chiumento et al.,
2017). Besides this, participants also have a right for informed consent in research where they
should not be informed of the purpose and procedures to be followed, untested procedures, the
potential risks and changes in the mental state before being involved.
The other standard of practice is that sexual relationships with participants are prohibited,
whether in person or through electronic interactions. More to this, a mental health professional
must give appropriate credit to those who have contributed to the research. Another
