ISSUES IMPACTING OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT 2
Operations management mostly involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling
the organization's resources. Each organization should adopt an operations strategy that will
ensure the conversion of the raw materials and human effort within the organization to valuable
goods and services that can satisfy particular wants. The process requires efficient and effective
planning so that the organization maximizes its profits by lowering the production cost.
Currently, many organizations experience several challenges in the management of their
day to day operations. These issues impact their agility hence, limiting them from competing
effectively amid stiff competition. These challenges usually arise either from within the
organization or as a result of external factors. Issues that arise from within the organization,
internal factors, the organization has full control over them, unlike the external factors where the
organization has partial control. Either internal or external, the manager should find innovative
ways to resolve them not to influence the operation of the firm.
The system design and operation strategy in place will dictate the operations of the
organization. The system design should ensure effective communication. Proper communication
channels should be put in place to ensure information is passed effectively and reaches every
individual (Jorfi & Jorfi, 2011). This will ensure that everyone understands clearly the goals and
objectives of the firm. It then becomes easy for the firm to respond to the demands of their
clients as the proper communication brings everyone on board.
The system in place determines inventory management. The system should ensure proper
management in the quantities produced and proper storage as well. All this should be reached out
with the demands of the consumers in mind and the organization's goals.
