Description
Title IX
One of the better-known impacts of Title IX relates to gender equity in athletics. While only 1 in 27 girls participated in high school sports before the passage of Title IX the number has increased to almost 1 in 2 girls in high school athletic programs since.
After viewing the required resources for this discussion, please address each of the following questions:
- In your informed opinion, was Title IX a logical policy response to the problem of gender inequality?
- Did Title IX accomplish the intended goals for all women?
- Did Title IX impact your life in any way?
- What differences do you think there are between the way girls and young women view sports today compared to 40 years ago? In effect, has participation in sports changed women and their role in society?
- Other than Title IX, have other social changes have contributed to changes in perception? Please provide examples.
Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references.

Stanly Community College Assumption of the Virgin Painting Analysis
For this assignment, thumb through your textbook and find an image that appeals to you. Any chapter, any image (except for Van Gogh’s Starry Night). Note that each image will have a caption stating where the work of art is located. Use this information to research the work and/the artist. Please keep in mind that research is only as good as the source, so be ruthless in your search for reputable information. Two sources are recommended. Please note: Wikipedia should only be used as a secondary source.1.) Click “Reply” below, and create a post, beginning with the title of your selected work.2.) Copy and paste the image (small to medium size; no large images) of the work within the post.3.) Include the artist, title, medium (oil on canvas, charcoal on paper, bronze, etc.), date and image source.4.) In the first paragraph, describe the formal elements the artist uses in the work (i.e. line, shape, color, space, value, texture, pattern, time, etc.). Students are expected to apply a minimum of six vocabulary terms.5.) In the second paragraph, discuss the principles of design. How is the image balanced? How are harmony and variety achieved? Which of the principles stands out to you the most? Please utilize a minimum of two principles of design.6.) In an additional paragraph, research the artist or artwork briefly. You do not need to go into great detail – just a few sentences of highlights. However, you must correctly cite your work, and your work cannot be copied and pasted from any website. It must be in your own words (although you may include a quote).7.) Lastly, students must respond to at least one classmate’s post in a meaningful way.*Do not discuss the subject or content of the image.* Use complete sentences and your own words.*Assignments should meet a minimum word limit of 350 words.*Please see my sample on the Moodle page, to assist you if you need guidance on how to complete the assignment.Deadline: 10/21/2019 by 9:00 PM 70 points total CriteriaExemplaryProficientNeeds Work Image(10 points)image is in focus and resized for the computer screen. UMGC Types of Non Traditional Families & Effects on Parenting Psychology Discussions
Week 6 DiscussionBased on your readings and resources for this week, identify one type of nontraditional family. Discuss the issues that may be encountered by raising children in this type of family structure and identify what the research says about outcomes for children growing up in this type of home. In addition to your weekly learning resources, find at least one recent scholarly article that provides you with some insight into the non-traditional family of interest. An excellent response will be 2-3 paragraphs in length, well-written, and include in-text citations and a reference list. Week 7 DiscussionBased on your weekly readings from the course and any other credible sources that you find, answer the following question: Are modern parents doing a good job of raising their children? This is a much trickier question that it seems at first glance. In order to respond, you need to ask yourself two crucial questions. First, what does it mean to be a "modern" parent - what are the challenges that modern parents face that make parenting especially hard in the 21st century? Second, you need to define what "good parenting" is. What is the metric we use to define success as parents? The responses to this question are likely to be quite diverse, but that's okay. An excellent response will address the two crucial questions, which lead to an answer that is supported by credible evidence (i.e. citations).
