Question Description
Consider a verticle section of the main artery of the lower leg that is 8.0 cm long. Assume that there are no branches between the top (point 1) and the bottom (point 2) of this section of the artery, which has a diameter of 5mm at point 1 and tapers to a diameter of 4.5mm at point 2. The blood flow rate at point one is measured to be 120 mmHg. Evaluate change in blood speed and pressure at point 2 when the individual does each of the following: (actions a and b are independent of one another). a.) the individual wears a compression sock that covers this section of the artery. the sock applies the same pressure to the skin of 5 mmHg at all points along the sock b.) the individual wears a compression sock that covers this section of the artery. the sock applies a pressure on the skin of 5mmHg adjacent to point 1 and a pressure of 10 mmHg adjacent to point 2 per manufactuer's description.
