Super Bowl 2014

McDonald's was one of many companies who tried to capitalize on the vast number of viewers the Super Bowl brings together to watch not only the game but also the ads. Their global message was directed towards the American crowd and their passion for football. The message McDonald's was trying to promote was the strong connection between McDonald's and football. Players can't get enough of McDonald's; they want more. They are "lovin it." The target market is clearly NFL fans who are passionate about the sport. Women might be draw into the commercial by the humor. Men and Fans like it because it  is football. Teens will like the ad due to the overall idea, rhythm, lyrics and silliness. McDonalds' image is portrayed as relatable company, a company who understand their customers, a company who understands customer interests and a company who has a good sense of humor. In the end, every company want clients to come to their store and buy more product. That is the end goal for McDonalds. They want to make a lasting impression. Creating conversation is a must. McDonald's wants this ad to be a memorable favorite for Super Bowl fans when they are at work or at school gathering around the watercooler. The more McDonald's message can reach potential clients and the more favorable impression they can make as a company, the better off they will be as a competitive company.

Gol! FIFA World Cup - Brasil 2014

This ad definitely has the entertainment factor!! However, as I was watching the ad, I did not know how it related to McDonald's. It is clearly a soccer (football) add and is directed toward fans of the sport (men, women, youth, elderly, and people from every background), but other than a McDonald's sign at the end, what is the connection? If I was watching this initially, without knowing who the sponsor of the ad was, I would guess the ad was promoting the sport of soccer itself, a soccer league, or special soccer event.... not necessarily McDonald's connection with the World Cup. I think some audiences will be skeptical of some of these clips and wonder if they  are real or digitally altered. The ad builds the brand by promoting the idea that they reach many age markets as well as male and female clients. This type of promotion might be trying to instill that McDonald's is forward thinking in regards to marketing techniques. They want to promote their product to the vast number of soccer fans around the world. The sport is huge in other markets outside of the US. McDonald's wants to get these fan groups to purchase McDonald's products in their area. They love football( soccer) why not love McDonald's?

Work Together

McDonald's global message is clear in this ad, "work together to make your day better." From early mornings and throughout the day, they show unity and enjoyment amongst the employees, clients and the employee and client interaction. Everyone in the ad is enjoying work, the product, providing and receiving service, and overall acceptance. A variety of demographics are represented in this ad and I would say the target market is the general public. I know that is a vague statement, but this is a type of message that McDonald's is trying to spread to everyone. It is almost a PSA. It builds the McDonald's brand as a socially responsible company. It promotes them as a company with a higher purpose than just selling food. This will establish in the minds of clients a positive image of the company. Clients want to support companies that think about more than their bottom line. Customers will be more likely to support their local McDonald's because of the message that is being promoted in this ad.
