Students will prepare a 15-20 minutes presentations using PowerPoint on a case that they choose (a list will be distributed in the first class).

Case presenters should be ready for the following:

a) Present a case to class using PowerPoint

b) Give a brief description on the background/history revolving around the case, the actors involved, and the environment surrounding the case (no more than 3 minutes)

c) Have 2-3 questions ready to present for class discussion (about 10 minutes)

d) Present your analysis and recommendations for the case (about 5 minutes)

You will be graded on content, clarity, presentation style and creativity.

1) Specify two hypotheses in which one variable is the independent variable in one hypothesis and the dependent variable in the other. Don't just reverse the variables (making the dependent variable the independent variable and vice versa). ONE variable should be the independent variable in one hypothesis and the dependent variable in the other hypothesis. Operationally define the independent variable and dependent variable in both hypotheses. Try to hypothesize one positive relationship and one negative relationship.2) Explain the difference between mediating and moderating variables. Come up with yet another hypothesis that includes: independent variable, dependent variable, mediating variable, and moderating variable.3) Explain what a spurious causal relationship is and come up with an example. Explain what the extraneous variable is that made the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable spurious. Finally, explain the difference between an extraneous variable and a control variable.
