Trevillion K, Agnew-Davies R, Howard L (2013). Healthcare professionals’ response to
domestic violence. Date of submission: September 17 2013. Date of acceptance:
September 23 2013.
“Victims of domestic violence have increased contact with healthcare services,
but the abuse may not always be identified as a causal factor in their physical and mental
health problems. Guidelines advocate that healthcare professionals should enquire about
abuse and respond appropriately to any disclosures with pertinent messages and referral
to domestic violence specialists if required. This article provides an update on the
guidance to health professionals and examines how improved identification and
responses to domestic violence by healthcare professionals can improve care for patients”
(Trevillion & Agnew-Davies, 2013).
This article will be of great use to me for my final paper because it explains many of the
reasons why domestic violence is hard on the economy. This will lead to one reason why
it is worth the money to try to help the victims now rather than later. I could compare the
cost of the mental as well as physical help that may be needed if we do nothing to stop it
with the cost of programs to help prevent domestic violence.

significance of non-profit organizational financial challenges. Information for non-profit
statistics was obtained from the IRS’s 501c3 label classification list. According to this
article, information indicated that non-profit organizations fall 16% short in financial
needs, 52% are suffering from the downfall of the current economic state, yet, 93% of
non-profits are excepting revenue increases with 12% breaking even yearly. This article
was contributing statistical data to our current research of organizational operations of a
non-profit organization.
This article would be used hand in hand with the following article. I would use to
it discuss the cost to the non-profit organization’s that currently are used to help with this
issue. I could explain why it is important to give funding to these organizations as well as
why we should take it further and completely support such group to make them larger.

“Worldwide, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund
(UNICEF) reports that a quarter to half of women around the world experience some
form of violence from an intimate partner over their lifetime. The World Health
Organization (WHO) estimates that worldwide, between 10% and 69% of women are
physically assaulted by an intimate partner at some time in their lives and that 40–70% of
female murder victims are killed by an intimate partner”( PEEK-ASA, 2004).

This article would help me in explaining the statistics of women who are
assaulted by their partners. It also has information to aid me in giving a clear definition of
Domestic Violence.

“The consequences of domestic violence go beyond a specific occurrence of it,
including physical, psychological, and social difficulties. Victims, depending on the
frequency and severity of the abuse, may experience central nervous system disorders,
gastrointestinal disorders, symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder, and
heart or circulatory conditions. Depression, antisocial behavior, suicidal behavior in
females, anxiety, the inability to trust men, and low self-esteem are among the
psychological consequences of domestic violence experienced by victims”.
This article would be a great addition because it tells about the effects of domestic
violence. It goes over the things that could become lifelong problems because of the
violence.

This article is a great choice because it speaks about the effects of domestic
violence on others within the home rather than just the victim. It tells about how domestic
violence harms the children in the home even if it is not directed specifically toward
them. Too many times I hear women say “he may be physically and mentally abusive to
me but he would never harm his children”. This article explains how the children are still
being harmed.

Violence in Gwalior City and to Identify the Various Risk and Protective Factors for Domestic

“The most important risk factor for domestic violence was alcoholism followed
by literacy status. Majority of the abused women were dependent on their husbands for
money, material assets and expenditure” (Mishra, Patne, Tiwari, Kumar, Gour & Bansal;
2014).
I will use this article to help identify the risk factors of domestic violence. This
can include those that should be avoided to try to keep from becoming a victim of
domestic violence. This study shows warning signs that, if they would have been noticed,
could have prevented any violence against the victim. It tells about how to recognize
these warning signs as well as how to get away when you do recognize them.
