Explanation & Answer
I first came to the US in 2010. I was on a vacation and was not going to stay for more than three months. Then the unrest began in Syria and I was not able to return home. I cannot return to a country that is in a war. The government is so unstable, the economy is fragile, food and housing are uncertain, families are scattered and torn apart. I do not even know if the government is allowing people to return, or if they will honor my passport. I am sure I could bribe an official to allow me back in, but I do not have the money for that, and I do not believe in doing this anyway.
I stayed here in the US to finish high school. I got good grades in high school, and I was able to graduate in 2013. I was then able to get accepted into college, and that is what I am doing now. I am studying very hard here and I am getting good grades, but I know that my English needs to be improved a lot. That is one of the things I am working on.
I have been waiting now for over a year to get my green card. I want to stay here in the US because I like it here. I want to finish my studies with ESL. I like math very much and I want to be an accountant. I want to get my degree in accounting and then I will be able to get a job and a car and start my new life here in the US.
